Read what the film says

Some days, a child comes home – “They didn't let me play with them.” – with more on their mind than they know how to say. And sometimes the best way into that feeling isn't another question, it's a story.

With Tale Forge, a small moment from today can become a personalized illustrated adventure where your child is the hero. Inside, they meet characters with stories of their own. They can listen, read, look closer, and decide what they want to do because their choices matter. One small decision can change what happens next.

And sometimes a story helps us see things differently. A story they can return to. And when the adventure ends – “What do you think our friend needed?” – the conversation doesn't have to end.

A quiet moment together and more adventures waiting to be discovered. One story tonight, a whole world to explore, another adventure waiting for tomorrow. Tale Forge: adventures worth talking about, a world they belong to, a story you share.

Three ways to start a story

Each evening you choose what the story is about.

  • An open book by a path where fireflies light the way into the evening forest

    A new adventure

Start from your child's own imagination and write your own idea, or pick from suggestions built on their interests.

  • A glowing bookmark leading from one book to the next on a tree-library shelf

    Continue an adventure

A new book that picks up where an earlier one ended, with the friends and things your child got to keep.

  • Today's things on a windowsill, where a paper boat sails out into the evening forest

    Something from today

Write briefly what happened. It becomes a made-up adventure with other names and places, which you read through first.

And two ways to read

Calm reading
An uninterrupted story with no choices to make. For a quiet moment together.
With choices
Your child decides what happens twice. Every path has a real ending.

A little moment from today. A whole new story.

Choose an example and see how an everyday moment can become a story to share. Your child can explore different possibilities without having to talk about themselves.

A moment from the day

“She wanted to join their game, but they said there wasn’t room.”

Write it in your own words. Before the story is created, you review and approve its fictional premise.

The extra chair at the dragon’s picnic

Maya arrives at a picnic where every chair has wings. Hers doesn’t. A small dragon has been saving her a place—but nobody knows how to make it fit.

“That chair isn’t wrong,” Maya said. “It’s just different.” The little dragon looked at the table, then at the grass. “What if the picnic didn’t need a table?”

A possible choice: Ask the dragon to help change the table—or spread a picnic blanket and invite the others over.

What makes a place feel like it has room for you?

Make a story from your day

A little moon. A big choice.

Maya and the Moon in the Teacup

A short story to try right here. No account needed.

Maya and Pip discover a tiny crescent moon glowing inside a blue teacup on a woodland bridge.
The beginning

The smallest splash in the world

Plink.

Something landed in Maya’s tea. Not a leaf. Not a biscuit crumb.

The moon.

It was no bigger than a curled-up petal, and it was shivering.

“I missed my place,” it whispered. Above the trees, a moon-shaped patch of darkness waited.

Pip the mouse peered over the rim. “We could take you to Owl’s telescope. She knows where everything belongs.”

From the river came a little bell. The lantern boats were gathering. Their lights made golden stepping stones across the water.

“Or we could ask the boat-makers,” Maya said. “Perhaps we can build you a way home.”

The moon sneezed. A silver bubble landed on Maya’s nose.

“Whichever way,” it said, “please don’t tip the cup.”

Now start your own story

An evening with Tale Forge

  1. Your child becomes the hero

Name, age, own interests and details. The hero is drawn in your chosen art style from a description or photo, and you approve the picture.

  2. Own imagination or a ready idea

Write your own story idea or pick one of the three ways in — as calm reading or with choices. You confirm before the story is created.

  3. Follow along sentence by sentence

The beginning is written when you start. As the voice reads aloud, each sentence is highlighted so your child can easily follow along.

  4. The story and friends are kept

The book goes on the bookshelf. Your child keeps a friend, a find or a place for future books, and afterwards there's a question to talk about.

Safe for your child, clear for you

How data is handled is described in the privacy notice.

  • Stories are written for ages 4–9, with gentle tension that always resolves. The text is checked automatically before it's shown, but AI can make mistakes, so read together when you can.
  • Text, pictures and voice are made with AI and labelled that way.
  • A photo of your child is never kept. Only the illustration you approve is saved.
  • The account is for an adult. The parent area is protected by a code.
  • You can delete books, child profiles and the whole account in the parent area.

Common questions

Help and contact
Who is Tale Forge for?

Children aged 4–9 and the adult reading with them — at home or for reading practice. The account is for an adult; each child gets their own profile and hero.

How does read-along highlighting work?

When narration plays, the sentence being read aloud is highlighted in real time. That makes it easy for children to connect sound and text and follow along at their own pace.

How long is a story?

Each reading is seven illustrated pages. With choices, your child chooses twice and every path has a real ending. Calm reading is seven pages in a straight line, without choices.

How long do we wait?

The beginning is written when you press Start, and you can begin reading as soon as it's ready. Pictures and narration keep arriving while you read.

Which languages are there?

Swedish and English. You can switch between Swedish and English at any time right at the top of the app.

Can we read a book again?

Yes. Every book stays on the bookshelf. In a book with choices, your child can take the other path next time.

How do we get started?

Your first story is included when you create an account — with no payment card required. If you want to create more new stories later, the subscription is managed in the parent area, with no lock-in.

A story for tonight. A world to return to.

Tale Forge began with stories for the children in the founder’s family. We build for the moment when you sit together, follow an adventure and find something to talk about.

Our vision is a story world that grows with the family: familiar friends, new possibilities and room for big feelings. First, we want to make that shared reading time truly worthwhile.
